GAUME JAZZ FESTIVAL 2026 : Brussels Jazz Orchestra ft. Nathalie Loriers [création ENVOL]

Creation of "Envol" for Nathalie's 60th Birthday

In concert at the Gaume Jazz Festival on [FRIDAY, AUGUST 7, 2026]

Since 2002, pianist Nathalie Loriers has been a mainstay at the keyboards of the Brussels Jazz Orchestra. With "Envols," she invites us to take a journey through her rich career with the orchestra, and beyond. The program will revisit past compositions, such as Danse Eternelle, and more recent works like Lost and the title piece, "Envols," specially composed and arranged for the occasion. This series of celebratory concerts—Nathalie will celebrate her 60th birthday in October 2026—highlights the role of the piano, a function that is far from obvious in the world of a big band.

The pianist envisions "Envols" from a spiritual perspective, as the expression of another state of consciousness. Given her unique position within the orchestra, she can draw upon a rich array of singular experiences. Nathalie Loriers' adventures with the BJO transport her each time to a very different world from the musical configurations she explores at other times—notably with her own trio. Envols thus invites the listener to float, in a serene and poetic way, over time, while confidently projecting themselves toward the horizon. Thanks to the selection of compositions, the listener will better understand the unique nature of this long-standing collaboration between Nathalie Loriers and the Brussels Jazz Orchestra. The latter, founded in 1993 and enjoying a worldwide reputation, strives to compose original music and create unique, high-caliber arrangements. The Brussels Jazz Orchestra offers jazz with a dynamic orchestral sound, rooted in the big band tradition, where each musician is also an exceptional soloist. Over the past three decades, the BJO has created projects that go far beyond the standards by also incorporating other art forms and musical genres (from film to visual arts, theatre and hip-hop).
