Brussels Jazz Orchestra
- Manager : Betty Vanlangendonck
"This band is phenomenal!." "It's the best band I ever worked with."
Maria Schneider, November 2000
A Belgian Big Band founded in 1993, that has been creating worldwide furore for a number of years now, is the Brussels Jazz Orchestra (BJO) and they consistently manage to bring about standing ovations at IAJE-Conferences.
People like Kenny Werner, Maria Schneider, Bob Mintzer, Phil Woods and Toots Thielemans, who have all worked with the BJO, are unanimous when praising this big band, which consists of nothing but the most proficient musicians who all seem to enjoy an exceptional aptitude for solo work.
The 52nd annual critics poll in the prestigious Downbeat Jazz magazine rated BJO as the 8th best big band worldwide
(Big Band Category). The BJO ranked first in the European big band list.
Since 1999 the Brussels Jazz Orchestra is recognised and subsidised by the Flemish Gouvernment.
