Andreas Polyzogopoulos was born in 1981 and grew up in Samiko, a small village in South-West Greece and got involved in music by studying guitar at the age of ten. At 16 he moved to Athens and started participating in rock and blues bands but he soon he discovered jazz. He studies jazz guitar in Philippos Nakas Conservatory but finally picks up the trumpet. In 2002 he moved to the Netherlands and studied at the Conservatorium Van Amsterdam. While studying in Amsterdam he played with various multi-ethnic groups and in 2006 he formed "Poly Quartet", a group performing his own compositions, and won the first place in "Motives for Jazz" competition in Belgium in 2008. He has recorded about 60 albums and has performed in festivals such as North Sea Jazz Festival, Odessa Jazz Festival, Banlieues Bleues Festival, Jazz à la Villette, I Suoni delle Dolomiti Festival, Athens Technopolis Jazz Festival… Andreas gives workshops every summer in Paros island, as a member of Mediterranean Artists Masters Academy. Andreas is currently based in Brussels.
