The Real Book is the bible of jazz themes that count. Initially based on mostly Anglo-Saxon standards, Jazzman from here and abroad decided to build short-circuit versions. This is how the Real Book Liège was presented in November 2022. This waffle and dumpling-scented experiment is now on stage with Marc Frankinet Quartet.

Aka Moon

August 5, 8:00 pm (€18 evening pass with DJ Set)

📍 Couvent des Frères mineurs *

Since the initial encounter with the Aka Pygmies in 1992, Aka Moon has explored numerous African, Indian, North African, Cuban, Arab, Afro-American & European cultures. Aka Moon juggle polyrhythms and polyphonies in a sonic madness reminiscent of certain DJs. They glide from one phrase to the next, creating new harmonic and rhythmic spheres. The basic core is the trio, around which larger formations can be built. Aka Moon's sound is unclassifiable, transcendent, cosmic. Invited to play in over thirty countries and at the world's leading festivals (Montreal Jazz Festival, Vancouver Jazz Festival, New York Jazz Festival), Aka Moon has released 24 albums.

Fabrizio Cassol (saxophone), Michel Hatzigeorgiou (bass), Stéphane Galland (drums)

DJ Apex (formerly DJ Zinho)

(DJ Set Acid/Electro Jazz)

August 5, 10:00 pm (free after Aka Moon concert)

📍 Couvent des Frères mineurs *

Born in Brazil, DJ Apex grew up in Belgium.

At the age of 14, he enjoyed his first techno night at the famous Brussels club Le Fuse.

He was also a guest at numerous I love Techno and other festivals, where he discovered many artists who guided him from one style to another. But he soon moved on to more underground genres like drum'n'bass and Tekno.

At the age of 18, he created his first sound system.

At the same time, he became increasingly involved in the Belgian rave scene.

His contacts led him to take part in various events all over Europe: Spain, France, Belgium, Netherlands, Czech Republic, Poland, etc.

His travels around the world now take him back to wiser, happier genres such as deep house, house, nu-disco, etc.

He devotes his life to music and now plays all over the world: Belgium, France, Netherlands, Switzerland, Brazil, Mexico, Colombia, etc...

His eclectic style and fine selection of music can take you from the coolest lounge music to hard-hitting techno.

All his sets are a musical journey in themselves.
