In 2024, alongside my activities as a sideman, I felt the need to focus on a personal project for the first time. Thus was born "Momente", Solitaire Walk volume 2. An album where I put in music 3 moments of my life. The title of the album refers to a work by Karlheinz Stockhausen also called "Momente". The choice of German is not foreign to my family background.
Several influences can be detected in "Momente", such as African-American music or contemporary European music. These two influences resonate particularly in my journey, having met these music at about the same time. A time when the music of John Coltrane, Thelonious Monk or Charles Mingus was for me as present as that of John Cage, Iannis Xenakis or Philippe Hurel.
I feel that this album has defined my guideline: the constant importance of improvisation and experimentation. From this first draft, it seems to me that I continued in this direction, gradually declining in different formations to broaden this same vision. Thus "Driving" Promenade solitaire volume 3 , Les Fermiers or Les Damnés/Les Parcs develop through the same red thread, passing through the influence of Craig Taborn, Paul Bley, Fabrizio Cassol and Impérial Triomphant.
In general, I consider artistic creation as an eternal dialogue between our past, our foundations: the music, the styles, the artists who shaped us in our training and what we live on a daily basis/ new encounters. From my experiences in the world of jazz, classical music and Mediterranean music, I want to create synthesis works.
