Bilou Doneux

Between 1985 and 1988, drummer Bilou DONEUX attends the classes of the Antwerp Jazz Studio with teachers Jan DE HAAS and Dré PALLEMAERTS.

He obtains a First Prize in percussion at the Brussels Conservatory in '91. His teacher is Bruno CASTELLUCCI.

In the years 87 - 91, he appears with various bands that received several awards, a.o. the Europ'Jazz in Hoeilaert (B) in '91 with guitarist Jean-François PRINS, Nicolas Dor Prize (PAB/Sabam) in '92 at the Liège Jazz Festival with GVA Quintet.
Bilou DONEUX appeared in various international jazz festivals (Belga Jazz Festival, Liège, Grenoble, Maubeuge, etc...) with the best Belgian jazz musicians, such as Nathalie LORIERS, Laurent BLONDIAU, Peter HERTMANS, NO VIBRATO, Michel HERR, Toots THIELEMANS, Pierre LOGNAY and his The New International Edition" with US saxophonist Mark TURNER (CD) etc...

He plays with the band of double bass player Chris MENTENS, CHRIS MENTENS JAZZ VAN, with the fusion band @70's, with Laurent DOUMONT soul jazz quintet, etc...

He also worked with pop or African bands such as ZAP MAMA, etc...

Drummer with multiple facets, he is able to play within very contrasting contexts, from jazz to rock and African music, etc...He also plays the guitar.
