Mathieu Najean began his musical journey by learning the classical bassoon. A few years later, he simultaneously took up jazz on the tenor saxophone. He studied jazz saxophone at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels with Fabrice Alleman and Manuel Hermia. Mathieu Najean has played, arranged, and composed in various jazz ensembles in Belgium and France: The Morning Call Jazz Band, Reverent Juke, Pauline Leblond Double Quartet, Jérôme Etcheberry "Satchmocracy", Zoot Big Band, César Poirier Octet, Paris Jazz Session, Laurent Vigneron & the Po'boys, Hot Sugar Band, Shirt Tail Stompers, Sounds Swing Machine, Juke Records Big Band, and in the musicals "Cabaret," "The Sound of Music," and "Sunset Boulevard." In 2020, he released his first album of original compositions under his own name (Panorama). In 2023 he released a second album of original compositions (Outta the Blue with You), this time in collaboration with New York singer Cait Jones. In 2025 he released a quartet album, "West Side," with Wouter Van den Broeck, Victor Foulon, and Matthias De Waele.
