Double Deal

Double Deal

The group "Double Deal" was born from the meeting of two worlds: that of Mathieu Najean (tenor/soprano saxophone, and bassoon ) and Julien Delbrouck (baritone/alto saxophone, and clarinet). Two slightly different worlds, but united by the desire to share creative music tied to swing, swung, and swang.
The orchestration is without harmonic instruments to allow the melodic instruments to take center stage and together create a harmonic layer, like the first groups of this genre, reminiscent of Gerry Mulligan and Ornette Coleman's quartet.
The rhythm, however, is not relegated to the background, as it also comes together to punctuate or enhance the melodic discourse.
