Bastien Jeunieaux
- Instruments : Guitar
- Date of birth : 24/01/1989 - Mons
Bastien was born on January 24, 1989 in Mons. He started playing guitar at the age of fourteen as a self-taught musician and a year later, he founded his first group with his brother in which they played original compositions. First very influenced by Rock and Blues which he listened to since his adolescence, he then moved towards Reggae then Soul and Funk.
At 18, thanks to a saxophonist friend, Bastien discovered Jazz. He then searched through his mother's record collection and came across albums by Miles Davis, Chet Baker, Bill Evans, Ella Fitzgerald, Stan Getz, etc. which he listened to over and over for several years. In love with this music, he decided to enroll at the Baudour academy to learn music theory and harmony. It was there that he met saxophonist Fabrice Alleman with whom he studied music for two years.
In 2011, after taking lessons from guitarist Paolo Loveri, Bastien returned to the Royal Conservatory of Brussels in the Jazz section where he continued his apprenticeship with Fabien Degryse and Victor Da Costa. For five years, he perfected his playing and met many musicians with whom he practiced, jammed and took his first steps on the Jazz scene.
Graduating in 2016, he began a residency at the legendary Sounds Jazz Club where he played every month for two years. It was there that he set up the BAM! project. Trio alongside his acolytes Arnaud Cabay on drums and Maxime Moyaerts on Hammond organ. With BAM!, Bastien is releasing a first album in 2021 and a second in 2024.
At the same time, he tours all the Brussels and Belgian stages with many different artists and groups. We particularly note his appearances alongside great Belgian musicians such as Jean-Louis Rassinfosse, Guy Cabay, Fabrice Alleman, Bart Defoort, Sal La Rocca, Manu Hermia, Jan de Haas...
Bastien strives to play music that “comes from the heart and speaks to the soul”.
