Jazz&mo' #32 - TRAVEL

Jazz&mo' #32 - TRAVEL

This Jazz&mo' takes us to all corners of the world. We highlight touring musicians, we join them in their search for musical inspiration from the East. And from Africa. And from the USA. And everything in between.

On the cover: kora player Lubiana Kepaou travels Africa in search of the roots of her instrument. Twenty-something Haroun Iqbal went to India to study with a raga master. Drummer Stéphane Galland and pianist Wajdi Riahi mix grooves and rhythms from all over the world with The Rhythm Hunters. The Ghent Youth Jazz Orchestra provided us with a travelogue of their trip to Japan. Jordi De Beule's record collection colours American, Brazilian, Ethiopian and Cuban. And the editors of Jazz&mo' are travelling virtually around the world in eight jazz cities.

And further: Frederik Goossens explains the history of gipsy jazz. Servaas Van Belle is the new cover artist. Maarten Weyler sees the world through music. Brussels-based Simon Comté, who emigrated to New York, is young and awesome. Lieven Keymolen talks twice about Jack Kerouac. The Europe Jazz Network's Green Pilot Tours take several musicians on sustainable tours. Leon Lhoëst introduces us to the complex time signatures of Bulgarian jazz. We highlight the top five reviewers. And bassist Anneleen Boehme travels to destination Eunoia on her first solo album.
