Alain Pierre 'Tribute to Ralph Towner & Marilyn Mazur'

For this 50th anniversary of Les Lundis d'Hortense, Alain Pierre wants to honor two recently departed artists. Ralph Tower was always a model of guitar interpretation, but also a source of inspiration for composition. He leaves behind a considerable musical heritage, unique in jazz. Exceptional percussionist and composer, Marilyn Mazur, thrown into the limelight by Jan Garbarek's Miles Davis bands, was one of the pioneers of female instrumental jazz. She led her own projects, and developed a unique style as an interpreter and composer. For this celebration, Alain Pierre invites two remarkable partners: percussionist Etienne Plumer and singer Barbara Wiernik. The program features compositions by Ralph Tower, Marilyn Mazur and Alain Pierre, inspired by the spirit and heritage of two great jazz figures.
