Etienne Plumer

Etienne PLUMER grew up in Belgium. He takes trumpet and solfeggio lessons at the Bastogne academy, then joins several brass bands.

He gets interested in playing the drums, starts to teach himself, and soon afterwards attends summer clinics with Antoine CIRRI, Steve HOUBEN, Pierre VAIANA and Sal LA ROCCA.

He joins some fusion bands and plays at the Gaume Jazz Festival in 1990.

In 1994, he arrives in Liège to study Roman philology, but soon meets drummer Mimi VERDERAME, who introduces him to many jam sessions.

He studies at the Music Conservatory in Liège between 1998 and 2001 and composes a piece of electr-acoustic music for the "Centre de Recherches et de Formation Musicales de Wallonie" and attends the classes of Garrett LIST (improvisation) and Michel MASSOT ("Chamber rock").

In 1997 he studies tablas with Pierre NARCISSE and Shuman SHARKAR.

He plays drums and percussions a.o. in Animus Anima, Ludovic JEANMART Quartet and REVE D'ELEPHANT ORCHESTRA, a band founded by Michel DEBRULLE and Michel MASSOT, wich has toured all over Europe and has recorded a CD,"Racines du Ciel" (Werf 026).
