Following his trio album Dear Uncle Lennie (Révélation Jazz Magazine), Swiss pianist and composer Camille-Alban Spreng is back in the spotlight, accompanied by his Belgian ensemble ODIL and singer Nina Kortekaas. A third album, entitled 'Unheimlich', is released by W.E.R.F. Records. This new album was born of Camille-Alban's passion for Allen Ginsberg and the beatnik movement. Ginsberg's poems are set to music, notably 'White Shroud' and 'Pull My Daisy' (a veritable symbolic anthem of the Beat generation, co-written by Allen Ginsberg, Jack Kerouac and Neal Cassady).

The lyrics Camille-Alban himself wrote for the album exude the same beatnik ambience. In this sense, this new work is a tribute to Allen Ginsberg. "I love the way he writes: it's funny, twisted, eccentric and witty all at the same time," explains Camille-Alban. "I couldn't think of a better title for this new album. 'Unheimlich' doesn't translate; it describes something strange but familiar. The black cat in the lobby of a seedy hotel in 'The Matrix', I think of that image, that atmosphere."
