Jordi Grognard trio

The Jordi Grognard Trio consists of Manolo Cabras on doublebass and Gaspard Sicx on drums, Jordi playing tenor sax, bass clarinet and flute and bringing his compositions to the group’s repertoire.

Time flies! And so does music when musicians are connected.
These three cats (or monkeys ?) have been playing together for quite a few years –in & around Brussels’s music venues – allowing the music to evolve from (and back to) jazz standards, Monk & Ornette Coleman originals to own personal compositions.
Together they present an acoustic sound, natural, vibrating and alive. Using dynamics, registres and timbres, their flowing music goes south, opens up, creates layers and landscapes, flies away. It is music that drives on freedom, energy & lyriscism, yet spiritual and delicate.

Monkeys’ Meeting, Jordi Grognard’s first album as a (band)leader has been recently released by the Gent-based label El Negocito Records in June 2023.
