Manolo Cabras
Born in Cagliari, Manolo starts his musical studies at the age of 11 as a classical violinist at the Conservatory. Soon enough he picks up the bass and he assists to several classes with masters like Dave Holland, Ray Brown, Marc Johnson among others.
His professional career takes him from Bologna to Holland - where he takes his to finally settle in Brussels where becomes a solid part of the Belgian jazz scene.
During all this time, Manolo has appeared on various jazz festivals in Europe and Asia at the sides of;
Enrico Rava,Toots Thielamans, Charles Gayle, Marshall Allen, Roswell Rud, Marc Murphy, Jasper Blom, Ack Van Rooyen, Jesse van Ruller, Wolfert Brederode, among many others
Currently he leads his own projects like 'Manolo Cabras Quartet' (J. Estievenaert/N. Andrioli/M. Patrman), 'Thelenyon Theory' with visual artist Claudia Ignoto and 'Flying Nimbus' with Lynn Cassiers, ‘Fuzzy’ (Lynn Cassiers, Jordi Grognard, Giovanni Di Domenico, Joao Lobo), ‘dancing with Don’ ( Joao Lobo, Lynn Cassiers).
He's part of bands like: Gayle/Barcella/Cabras, Orange Moon, Manu Hermia Freetet, Maak Eletrik, Erik Vermeulen Trio, Lynn Cassiers 'Imaginary Band' & 'YUN', Wheels, Oriol Roca Trio, Giovanni Di Domenico New Movement, Daniele Martini Quartet , Gaspard Sicx Trio, Jordi Grognard Trio.
