Three young dogs who, thanks to their unique talents (piano, flugelhorn, and drums respectively), know how to make one plus one plus one more than three: that is Elsiris in a nutshell. The jazz trio brings original compositions by pianist Jasmien, but they also improvise like no other.
Jasmien Geijsels (piano) and Pierre-Antoine Savoyat (flugelhorn) met during their jazz studies at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels and, along with a drummer, formed the trio Elsiris. In 2020, the band was selected for the semi-finals of the Jazz Contest in Mechelen, and in August 2022, they went into the studio to record their debut album.
The band's repertoire, with Élie Goulème now taking over the drums, mainly consists of original compositions by founder and pianist Jasmien. Her melancholic, fragile melodies take the listener on a musical journey that transcends time, yet there are equally penetrating and powerful sounds when the moment calls for it. The warm sound of Pierre-Antoine Savoyat on flugelhorn, combined with unique electronic effects, creates beautiful colors, soundscapes, and depth, while Élie Goulème's drumming enriches the band with both subtle and lively rhythms. Together, they form a close-knit trio that improvises playfully and profoundly, resulting in an always captivating experience.
