Marylène Corro

Belgian-Chilean artist Marylène Corro has devoted her free time to the arts since childhood – from theatre to dance and singing. After completing a law degree and performing in several bands (rock, blues, soul, funk), she discovered jazz in 2010 while studying at the Jazz Studio in Antwerp – a true revelation.

Though she started her career as an immigration lawyer, her passion for jazz continued to grow. She kept training with mentors such as Donna McElroy (Berklee), Justin Binek, Kristen Cornwell, John Baboian (Dworp), Barbara Wiernieck, Serge Lazarevitch, Marie-Sophie Talbot, Philippe Laloy, Guillaume Vierset, and Fabrice Pillet (vocal technique). In 2011, she was awarded the Outstanding Musicianship prize by Berklee College of Music during the Umbria Jazz Clinics.

In 2015, after a transformative trip across the Americas, she left her law career behind to fully dedicate herself to music. She enrolled in the jazz vocal program at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels, studying with Pete Churchill, Arnould Massart, and Pirly Zurstrassen. Marylène enjoys interpreting a wide range of musical styles: jazz and its many fusions, soul, groove, funk, Brazilian music, and French chanson.

She has performed with prominent Belgian jazz musicians such as Manu Hermia, Renaud Crols, Igor Gehenot, Victor Foulon, Renaud Dardenne, Martin Salemi, and Margaux Vranken, as well as international artists including Ricardo Pellican (Buenos Aires) and Bangar Manouche Trio (Chile). Her warm voice travels seamlessly through cultures, countries, and soundscapes.

As a singer-songwriter, she released her debut single “Flavour” in June 2020. Her music is organic, radiant and deeply rooted in harmony and groove, blending soul, jazz, and world influences. She draws inspiration from artists like Gretchen Parlato, Lianne La Havas, Norah Jones, Esperanza Spalding, and Mayra Andrade. Her first EP was released on November 27, 2020, under the musical direction of Antoine Pierre, featuring Stéphane Mercier (also co-writer on some tracks), Joel Rabesolo, Thibault Dille, Fil Caporali, and Toine Cnockaert.

Marylène is also passionate about music education and has led jazz discovery workshops for children in primary schools, in collaboration with the socially engaged organization REMUA.

In January 2025, she released her debut full-length album CROSSOVER, produced and arranged by Chilean guitarist Patricio Trujillo. The release concert took place on January 29th at a sold-out show at Botanique (Brussels). Her live band includes Carla Pusceddu on guitar, Léa Kadian on bass, and Hadrien Pierson on drums. That same year, she was also featured at the BRU JAZZ WEEKEND.
