CC Muze Heusden-Zolder

  • Address : Marktplein 3, 3550 Heusden-Zolder, Belgique

In September 2019, the new CC Muze in Heusden-Zolder officially opened its doors. The cultural centre is housed in the listed collection machine building on the former mine site of Zolder. With respect for the industrial heritage, restoration and internal conversions were carried out as well as new building parts added, both inside and outside the original building.

Commissioned by the municipality of Heusden-Zolder, TM Houben-Vanderstraeten-Monument Vandekerckhove has created an attractive hotspot for art and culture lovers. The design was drawn up by Q-BUS Architectenbureau and ARAT, together called the AAQ Architectural Association.

Collection buildings 1 and 2 and the compressor room had already been restored and redeveloped by the TM in a first phase. Collection Building 3 with its annex was transformed into a large theatre for 400 people with a theatre tower, a multi-purpose room with retractable seating, a cosy café and a spacious ballroom. The new building, with its grey brick, looks austere and sober, but still has a certain harmony with the historic mine buildings. The new building contains a second foyer, a ballroom with a capacity of 600 visitors and an industrial kitchen, recording studios, the artists' dressing rooms and storage and administrative premises. All work was carried out in compliance with the strict acoustic requirements.
