INUIT presenteert: Vorklift & Alex Lesage

INUIT presenteert: Vorklift & Alex Lesage

For this opening concert of Leuven Jazz 2023, Inuit has selected a double portion of fresh talents.

Vorklift (Forklift in Dutch) is an instrumental trio. The idiosyncratic, genre-fluid pianist Eli Coppens is supported by bassist Inigo Grau and drummer Paul De Smet. The result is punchy grooves and floating sound clouds, inspired by modern jazz (GoGo Penguin, Immortal Onion, Alfa Mist, Robert Glasper ...) as well as prog rock, neo-soul, hip hop, EDM and metal.

Alex Lesage is a Belgian electronic musician, pianist and producer known for his innovative approach to music. With a background in keyboard performance and a strong interest in sound design and experimental electronic music, Alex has developed a unique and distinctive sound that combines elements of electro, hip-hop, and jazz to create a sound that is both intellectually and emotionally engaging.
Alex's main focus is to experiment with keyboards and sound design work, especially using analogue synths. Most of his work is influenced by improvisation and the adventurous paths it opens in order to find a connection to what is real to him. Influenced by the work of modern artists such as Max Cooper, Rival Console or even Flume, Alex Lesage's musical identity is also a minimalist research on sound and visual work. His live set is another take on his studio tracks with improvisations on structures with Max Hilpert on drums.
