In this first personal project, bass player Boris Schmidt joins forces with musicians he appreciates and knows well. Their common understanding and interpretation of “time,” that beat they bond over, is the prerequisite to their music flowing and grooving freely. Each quartet member trusts the other three so fully, they create a relaxed climate favoring creative risk taking. Entering Boris Schmidt’s universe is like entering a velvet jewelry box in which each note is light, subtle and round. Wrapped in apparent nonchalance, high rigor and precision pervade the ensemble with a superior sense of harmony and calm strength, while they offer a melodic jazz imbued with blues, swing, baroque music, pop and folk.
