Lara Rosseel Quintet @ CC De Spil

In early 2020, Lara Rosseel was the surprise of the Belgian jazz scene with her album "De Grote Vrouw. Her often exotically tinged compositions balance on the borderline between mystery and recognizability. Music that does not need boastful gymnastics, but a loud beating heart tailored to a wide audience.

Now she continues that journey of conquest with the new album 'Hert' (WERF Records, 2022) and a young quintet with a lush color palette with which she can once again give all those assets a new twist.

Lara Rosseel, as bassist herself, takes care of the foundation, with the organic soul that is her own. Trumpeter Sam Vloemans (Cargo Mas, Bram Weijters' Crazy Men) is equally at home in jazz that beckons to exotic places. Guitarist Vitja Pauwels (Bombataz, Warm Bad, Naima Joris) is one of the standout young voices of the moment, while Sep François (The Colorist Orchestra) provides unusual sounds with vibraphone/percussion. Wild card is percussionist Angelo Moustapha, the final piece of this imaginative lineup.
