Presentation of the artists for this double set
Pierre Durand "roots" quartet
A must listen ! (Les Inrocks), Enthusiastic ! (L'express), Voyage hallucinatoire ! (album choc, Jazz magazine), Pierre Durand is definitely the griot of jazz (Les dernières nouvelles du jazz), a concert rooted, coloured, powerful and rare (Citizen jazz), attention, phenomenal talent! (La Voix du Nord).... Don't throw away any more!
Pierre Durand writes about his music: "the idea is to offer a mixture of genres with classical instrumentation without falling into indigestible zapping. West Africa meets Ireland, swing starts to groove, the West Indies greet Nick Drake and the American Indians play the blues while a tired Mexican takes a nap...".
We know that Pierre Durand is now "the" guitarist to see and hear live since he came to the club with Sebastien Texier. We wanted to share our favourite with you and you'll thank us!
Line up: Guitar and vocals: Pierre Durand; drums and backing vocals: Jo Quitzke; tenor sax and backing vocals: Hugues Mayot; double bass and backing vocals: Guido Zorn
Billy & Bloomfish (opening act)
This duo of female singers from Ghent only sings original songs made of Americana, folk and acoustic rock, with real talent and sincere conviction, ideal for an opening act that contrasts with Pierre Durant's quartet but in the same spirit: roots and fusion, enthusiasm and sharing.
