Matteo Mazzu

Matteo Mazzù is a Belgian bass player and producer currently living in Amsterdam. Driven by a deep-love for music and a never-ending quest for artistic expression, Matteo developed a unique approach to the bass guitar, combining a strong sense of groove and accompaniment with fearless creativity, when called for.

This versatility allows him to work with international artists in genres such as jazz, indie, hip-hop, alternative electronic music, but also to create multidisciplinary pieces, be it with Chinese multimedia artist Muxingye Chen or with Iranian storyteller Sahand Sahebdivani.

Matteo has recorded and performed with, among others: Oracle Sisters, Jozef Dumoulin, Mark Schilders, Melissa Aldana, Deine Freunde, Antoine Pierre, PEET, Bart Wirtz, Guillaume Vierset, Jasper Blom…

Some of Matteo’s regular projects include Neon River (NL), Jean-Paul Groove (BE), WAAN (NL), Guillaume Vierset’s EDGES (BE), Tzara the Machine (VE/NL), Amarea (ES/NL), Chaerin Im (KR/NL) and Lara Humbert’s ‘I’m Not Done Cooking’ (FR/BE), with whom he has performed in venues and festivals in the USA, South-Korea, UK, Canada, Portugal, Spain, Germany, Denmark, France, Hungary, Romania…
