Nicholas Bertolaso

Initially self-taught, Nicholas Bertolaso trained on the saxophone with Willy Vande Walle then Pierre Vaiana. He then enjoyed the teachings of John Ruocco, Joe Lovano, Erwin Vann, Bart Defoort, Peter Hertmans, etc. during Lundis d'Hortense and AKDT courses. After concerts in the 80's in Brussels (Travers, Botanique, Monnaie...), Nicholas settled near Arlon and attended the Conservatory of the city of Luxembourg (with Chris Defoort). Since then, Nick has performed in various bands at the Brussels Jazz Rally, the Blues'n Jazz Rallye de Luxembourg, in Strasbourg, in Metz (Caveau des Trinitaires), at the Aralunaires festival... and since 2013 quite regularly at the Château du Pont d'Oye (Habay), where he has played with pianists Ivan Paduart, Vincent Bruyninckx and Murat Öztürk, among others. His main sources of inspiration are Jan Garbarek, John Coltrane, Michael Brecker, Wayne Shorter and Joe Henderson.
