Fascinated by Wayne Shorter's compositions from an early age, saxophonist Nicholas Bertolaso has been keen to pay tribute to this jazz giant, who passed away in March 2023. Régis Daumas, Nick's long standing bandmate, will be playing the double bass. Joining them will be two up-and-coming jazz stars from Lorraine: pianist Pierre Brouant (who was Pierre Cocq-Ammann's guest at the highly acclaimed 'Back to C' concert in May) and drummer Boris Meichelbeck.
The group will be playing Shorter compositions from the Jazz Messengers era (59-63), from his collaborations with Miles Davis in the 1960s and from his Blue Note albums.
