TB Project and Tomer Cohen Trio advance to the B-Jazz '24 finale

Last month, nine Belgian bands competed in three different preliminaries for a spot in the final of the B-Jazz International Contest 2024. Elsiris, YENTL, TB Project, Anaphora, Minla, Tomer Cohen Trio, Werend Alleen, Juxtaposition, and Tim Vermeulen Quartet each delivered a remarkable performance at 30CC (Leuven), Rataplan (Antwerp), and CC Het SPOOR (Harelbeke). It was no easy task for the eight-member jury. Eventually, TB Project and Tomer Cohen Trio were selected to play in the final during the Jazz in ’t Park festival in September. Congratulations!

The jury was impressed by TB Project in the first preliminary: "There is a lot of interaction between the musicians, resulting in a strong group that masters their skills well. The sound palette, enriched by the vibraphone, adds a pleasant dimension. They manage to distinguish themselves with their craftsmanship and demonstrate this through a very playful approach to making music. As a band, they stand firmly with a fully developed concept."

Tomer Cohen Trio managed to convince during the second preliminary: "The sound and approach to the music are very mature, creating a pleasant atmosphere and strong collaboration with good intensity. The music is varied and progressive, suitable for a select audience, and manages to captivate the listener with stimulating elements. The virtuoso and melodic guitar playing adds depth, making listening to the band feel like reading a book or listening to a unique album."

In the final in September, these two Belgian winners of the preliminaries will compete against four international acts from Spain, the Netherlands, Italy, and Romania. They will perform for an international jury that will select the ultimate winner.
