This “Laurel & Hardy” ciné concert, accompanied live by 5 jazz musicians, delights young and old equally!
A COMIC DUO Laurel and Hardy are without doubt the most popular comic duo in the history of cinema. Before they began working together in 1927, each had already enjoyed a successful career, but it was as a duo that they wrote their names into the history books of cinema. Between 1927 and 1951, they created no fewer than 106 short and feature films.
SLAPSTICK Laurel and Hardy were masters of slapstick. In slapstick, the actors' actions and movements are magnified and exaggerated to the extreme for comic effect. The stories told, often banal and absurd, focus entirely on the actors and their facial expressions. Charlie Chaplin, Buster Keaton and the Marx Brothers are other emblematic figures of this style. Today, these three short films introduce us to the fascinating world of the mischievous duo of Laurel and Hardy.
THE MUSIC These 5 musicians have created a real work of composition, mixing jazz, improvisation and musical humor. Invited twice by BOZAR for UFA Films Night, the Collectif du Lion has responded successfully, sharing its popular yet cutting-edge aesthetic with an enthusiastic intergenerational audience.
