Scott Hamilton, the world-famous saxophone player, is coming to Campus Corso!
Hailed as the Messiah of the mainstream by the New York label Who’s Who in Jazz, tenor saxophonist Scott Hamilton enchants his audience with his soft and melodious interpretations.
Scott Hamilton discovered his passion for jazz during his early childhood while exploring his father's extensive record collection. At the same time, he experimented with various instruments and at the age of 16, discovered the tenor saxophone, and it was love at first sight. His musical journey began in the 1970s: in contrast to the popular jazz fusion of that time, he distinguished himself with his traditional swing approach, inspired by figures like Ben Webster and Zoot Sims. Soon, he was sharing the stage with jazz greats like Benny Goodman and Bucky Pizzarelli. Hamilton has released more than 35 albums under the Concord label and has established himself as one of the best saxophonists in mainstream jazz. For jazz musician Chris Hopkins, Hamilton is an artist of "absolute class" whose music is of "unparalleled beauty."
The septuagenarian, who now lives under the soft Tuscan light, returns to the stage at Elbjazz to captivate his audience with soft and nostalgic notes of 1940s New York swing.
