Babs Robert

Babs Robert

Saxophonist Babs Robert was active on the Belgian jazz scene between the sixties and the eighties.

In 1961, he wins the bands contest at the Comblain-la-Tour festival.

He led his own band, with Johnny Brouwers (p), Paul Dubois (b), Robert Pernet or Johnny Peret (drs), and also with saxophonist John Van Rymenant.

In 1970, his band released an LP, titled "Babs Robert and the love planet" (Alpha records 7003), a good exemple of his open musical approach, which combines modal jazz and free music among other influences.
