Muriel Urquidi

Muriel Urquidi (born 1986 in Hollywood, California) showed musical prowess early on, beginning piano and solfege studies at age 4 and continuing on to study voice not long thereafter.

She graduated with a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Voice and Studio Music at The Frost School of Music from The University of Miami. In 2010, Muriel earned a Master in Music Business Management from The University of Westminster in London, England. After moving to Belgium in late 2013 and establishing herself within the Belgian Jazz Scene, she traveled with her the Muri Urquidi Quartet to Hangzhou, China in 2017 for a three month residency at JZClub. Muriel finished her second Master in Jazz Voice and Light Music in 2018 from the Lemmensinstituut in Leuven, Belgium. She also finished her SLO teaching certification at the Lemmensinstituut in 2019. That same year she was invited to perform one of her jazz compositions (arranged by trumpet player and arranger, Thomas Mayade) with the Brussels Jazz Orchestra for The Future is Now project. Since then Muriel has had the honor to perform again with The Brussels Jazz Orchestra as one half of the substitutes for vocalist/effects Lynn Cassiers for the project In The Pines.

In 2022 she was a special guest on three tracks for guitarist, Roeland Celis' debut album 'Celestial Planes' on SoulFactory Records.

Muriel is now based in Vilvoorde, Belgium where she performs with her bands Ode. She is also one of the vocalists for the a cappella group, KOOR. Muriel also teaches in the SAMWD of Geel and the Academie Art Regio Tienen as well as privately.
