Alphonse Bodson

Alphonse Bodson

Guitarist, composer

Captivated by the guitar since his teens, he began studying and playing music after completing his university studies, attending jazz workshops then offered in Brussels by the non-profit organization "Les Lundis d'Hortense." He subsequently participated for many years in various workshops (LDH, AKDT, GAUME, and others) and, in several academies, became a student of Paolo Radoni, Fabien Degryse, Manu Bonetti, Massimo Formica, and Fizzi.

A skilled amateur accompanist and soloist, he regularly performs at musical events and concerts, notably alongside the musicians of the "SUNNY SIDE JAZZ BAND," a group of which he is the driving force.

In 2022, he self-produced his first CD of original compositions in a blend of jazz: 14 instrumentals plus a spoken/sung text, all titled IN.OUT (TRA026).

In 2025, he returned with his album WITH.OUT (TRA027): 13 instrumentals followed by an a cappella vocal. Due to a delay of several months, he didn't begin promoting it until May 2026.

As seen in the press regarding IN.OUT

  • Jazz in many forms. More bluesy, more funky, more gypsy jazz, more traditional. But always with sincerity and honesty. This album doesn't reinvent jazz, but that's not always necessary: it's not there to serve as an ostentatious calling card, like, "See how I've gone beyond borders?", but simply to make us feel good, just as it did good for the musicians who created it. Guitarist Alphonse Bodson, but also Cécile Broché on violin, José Bedeur on cello, Jérôme Baudart on drums, Michel Mainil on tenor sax, and Olivier Stalon on bass. An album you'll always enjoy putting on your turntable.

  • Six Belgian musicians surround guitarist Alphonse Bodson—six friends, six musical companions—for a joyful and infectious jazz album composed primarily by the leader, with two tracks by bassist José Bedeur. Here, he sets aside his "grandmother" (the double bass's nickname) for the cello, alongside violinist Cécile Broché. Clearly, this is an album made for pure enjoyment; IN.OUT happily blends styles, always with good taste and a touch of humor.
