Jean Berry (born 1921) jazz guitarist, started playing professionally in 1943 with many greats of Belgian jazz and French Singers such as Edith Piaf, Jean Sablon, Charles Trenet and Gilbert Bécaud.

Jean worked also with the biggest names in Belgian jazz like Stan Brenders(1946), Ernst van 't Hoff (1948) Jean Omer (1947) Jack Kluger (1948), Gus Deloof, Sadi, Raoul Faisant, Jack Sels. Most notably, in 1947 he took part in a session with Toots Thielemans which produced a 4 track demo that was sent to Bennie Goodman, which led to Toots becoming a member of the Bennie Goodman all stars 3 years later on a European tour.

Jean Berry was long active as a rhythm guitarist and made a couple of recordings with Yetty Lee, The Peeters Sisters and played on a soundtrack with one of Belgian's greatest saxophone players Jack Sels in a movie from 1954 called Meeuwen sterven in de haven (1955).

Jean played all through the 1960's and 1970's for various groups all over Belgium, France and Europe.
After a motorcycle accident, Jean had to switch from guitar to bass. He worked with Belgian pop singer Will Ferdi. Jean also sang through his carreer, which led to one rare 78rpm recording for Belgian radio INR singing a French version of "A Kiss to build a dream on".

Jean lives in Brussels and still visits concerts from time to time.
