Ornella Noulet
- Instruments : Composer, Soprano saxophone, Tenor saxophone
- Date of birth : 12/09/2001 - Les Lilas
Driven by the momentum of free jazz and nourished by the legacy of spiritual jazz, Ornella Noulet develops music that is intense, uncompromising, and imbued with spirit. Her world follows in the footsteps of the great figures she cites as major influences: John Coltrane, Alice Coltrane, Albert Ayler, and Pharoah Sanders—artists for whom sound is at once a cry, a prayer, and a space of freedom.
She began playing the saxophone at the age of seven and trained for more than fifteen years at conservatories in Paris and Brussels.
Based in Belgium, she has developed several projects that reflect her artistic standards. Her discography includes three releases:
– The Untitled EP, her first recording with the group OLA TUNJI, which she co-leads;
– Promise of Faithfulness, a first solo album released on the New York label Relative Pitch Records;
– Summer Hour, a self-produced album in duo with drummer Egon Wolfson (also co-leader of OLA TUNJI).
Through these projects, Ornella Noulet asserts a unique voice on the jazz and improvised music scene, inviting the listener to a raw, sensitive and deeply alive sound experience.
