Julien Hucq

Originally from Belgium, Julien Hucq is a creative member of the young jazz scene of New York where he has lived since 2012. Active as a saxophonist, composer, arranger and teacher, Julien multiplies collaborations and partnerships. Julien has played with the Calvin Hill Group, the Claudio Roditi Quintet, Steve Nelson, John Betsch, Michael Cochrane, Gene Perla, George Schuller, Jeb Patton, Corcoran Holt, George Robert and at major jazz clubs and international festivals such as Minton's, Flushing Town Hall, Zinc Bar, Sounds, Sunset, Warsaw Jazz Days, Gaume Jazz Festival, Montreux Jazz Festival and Kinshasa Jazz Kif.
In 2014, Julien played with his quartet on the American Music Series television show at Brooklyn College, hosted by Randall Keith Horton and aired on CUNY TV and KRCB (a PBS affiliate).
Julien has recorded five albums as a leader: « Julien Hucq Quartet » (2013), « Ilium.Id.Inlet » (2014), « Reunion » (2015), « Magma »(2016) and "Z" (November 2017).
He presented a quartet featuring US musicians such as Calvin Hill (b) and John Betsch (drs).
