Waso Septet is an ensemble that performs music inspired by Django Reinhardt—the legendary guitarist who laid the foundations of the genre now often called Gypsy jazz or "jazz manouche." It is based on the original Waso quartet, founded in 1975. The quartet has now become a septet.
The band is rooted in the De Cauter family tradition: sons Waso and Dajo play rhythm guitar and double bass, and others from the family or relatives complete the lineup.
Their repertoire pays homage to Reinhardt's music and the Manouche/gypsy swing style: they revive old "hot-club jazz"—with rhythm guitar, clarinet, violin, double bass, vocals, and more, depending on the lineup. Tcha Limberger: violin
Fapy Lafertin: rhythm guitar
Waso De Cauter: rhythm guitar
Dajo De Cauter: double bass
Koen De Cauter: clarinet
Djalt Baculalay: rhythm guitar
Myrddin De Cauter: clarinet
