River Jazz Festival: MIKAEL GODÉE -EVE BEUVENS "INGEN FARA"

As luck would have it, all it took was a flyer and a few clicks on Myspace for Eve Beuvens and Mikael Godée to meet in 2009. Their first concerts as a duo revealed a natural complicity, with Magnus Bergström on double bass and Johan Birgenius on drums. Fourteen years later, after dozens of concerts in Belgium, Sweden, France, Italy, Morocco, Spain, Qatar and Poland, they have released their third album as a quartet, ’Ingen Fara’.

Eve and Mikael, who are both equally at the helm of the group, share the compositions, which form a surprisingly homogeneous whole combining Nordic lyricism and modern jazz. Between the four musicians, the music plays out like a tennis match devoid of any rivalry and unfolds like a telepathic conversation. Four strong musical personalities at each other’s service, a real band !

"Ingen Fara" is a Swedish expression that could be translated as "don’t worry", something a child might say before doing something daring, for example. Behind this title the band wants to convey a positive message, to share music that sounds like a flight of migratory birds, free and united.
