TOOTS JAZZ CLUB: a new jazz club in the heart of Brussels
Toots Jazz Club, a new venue dedicated to jazz and zwanze, will open its doors on 15 May on the Grand-Place in Brussels. The project is the work of pianist Joachim Caffonnette, a leading figure on the Belgian jazz scene, and his non-profit organisation Toots Live. Through this venue, the pianist hopes to offer a vision that is at once festive, eclectic and demanding of what Michel Petrucciani called ‘the classical music of the XXIᵉ century’.
Toots Jazz Club is taking up residence in an iconic building at 6 rue des Chapeliers, formerly occupied by ‘Chez Luc’, then ‘Chez Patrick’, and finally ‘Le Chapot’, a bar where swing nights left their mark on dance and jazz fans.
This new intimate club will offer a rich programme, with no fewer than eight musical events a week. The club will provide table service during concerts, as well as a careful selection of drinks for a New Orleans atmosphere.
