The Oakcity Jazzband was founded in september 1995, by the impulse of Nic, and we became a group of seven friends, that likes to please their audience in a unique way.

The name of the band was chosen from the home-town; Maaseik, also called "Oakcity".

Thanks to the devotion of each member of the band, The Oakcity Jazzband has now the confidence of many organizers, and we became famous in the Euregion. Cities like Düren, Aachen, Heerlen, Genk, many other cosy places, and of course our home-town Maaseik roll regularly in our splendid Dixieland-sphere.

The Oakcity Jazzband most profiles itself as a Streetparade band, by which the tunes are spiced up with stylish solo's, recognizable lyrics, and some street-theatre together with the audience passing-by. Even on stage our performance is great, and there we have the piano and drums that get their chance extensionly.

Dixieland Music with The Oakcity Jazzband is having exuberant, and cheerful Dixie-music, alternated with slow Blues- and popular Swingtunes. Our instrumental and solistic music, gets, at the moment the vocals start, a great recognition by passers-by and Dixieland-lovers. This makes the whole accessible for each rank, station and age.

Special to The Oakcity Jazzband is that we have lyrics in German, French and Flemish. Sometimes English lyrics are 'translated' in a comical way. When you book The Oakcity Jazzband as a mobile musicband, or on stage, it sure will cheer up your event! Restaurant, shoppingcenter, exhibition, market or any open air-event, we feel there as at home, and know how to create the right atmosphere! (we even performed once at a funeral procession!)
