Motives Festival 2026

A top-notch selection of Belgian jazz. The third edition of the nomadic Motives Festival will be an XL version and has chosen De Velinx in Tongeren as its venue. No fewer than ten Belgian bands—plus a children’s show—will take center stage at the festival.

The Motives Festival is the brainchild of Motives For Jazz, an organization that has been curating a diverse jazz scene in Limburg since 1997. Motives For Jazz presents a balanced mix of accessible jazz, adventurous avant-garde, and crossovers, featuring both emerging talent and established artists. Motives Festival is the annual culmination of these efforts, taking place each year at a different captivating location in the province.

Immerse yourself in the best that Belgian jazz has to offer, with a special focus on talent from Limburg. The ‘26 edition will be extra special thanks to an intense collaboration with Belgium Booms x JazzLab. This program, designed to promote Belgian jazz, partners with a renowned jazz festival each year and, with the help of an international jury, fills four slots on the lineup. The remaining acts are curated by Motives Festival and De Velinx.
