Simon Comté (2005) is a young jazz saxophonist and composer born in Brussels, who now lives in New York where he studies at the prestigious Manhattan School of Music. His exceptional talent for the saxophone, his great virtuosity, his precocious musical maturity and his unique voice on the instrument were quickly recognised by his peers, making him one of the most talented and promising saxophonists of his generation.
The quartet's repertoire consists mainly of compositions by Simon Comté. His music gives pride of place to dialogue and synergy between the musicians. His music is influenced by his mentors: Coltrane, Monk, Brad Mehldau and Kenny Wheeler, among others.
Always searching for the most sincere energy and the best way to tell a story through notes, Simon Compté already stands out and is one of the most dazzling rising stars of the new Belgian jazz scene.
