Kin Gajo
demonstrates how original and colourful the results can be when elements of contemporary jazz are combined with various influences from a metropolitan melting pot. The trio was founded by accordionist Stan Maris (Kreis, Ocean Eddie), who is well on his way to becoming one of the most exciting artists on our scene. Together with saxophonist Werend Van Den Bossche (Dishwasher, Sonic Hug) and drummer Tom Peeters (Elias D'hooge Trio), he plays a fresh and surprising mix of contemporary jazz with hip-hop influences and inventive electronics.
Their debut EP Āku (W.E.R.F., 2023) featured sizzling grooves, melodies and rhythms. None other than DJ and producer Lefto placed Kin Gajo on his compilation Lefto Presents Jazz Cats Volume 3, putting them at the forefront of the young Brussels jazz scene. They were also the winners of the Jazz Talent Gent (formerly Jong Jazztalent Gent) creative competition and will present their ambitious sound at Gent Jazz 2025.
For their album Tsuki 月 and concert series with JazzLab, Kin Gajo is collaborating with visual artist Moon, who is creating a manga inspired by the music, thus providing an equally original visual component! Vinyl and manga will be released together for this tour. In this way, contemporary music from Belgium interacts with the Japanese version of the comic strip. Cross-pollination across borders and disciplines!

The House of Modes
For his new project “The House of Modes”, bassist and composer Martijn Vanbuel invited Brazilian accordionist Vitor Gonçalves: a musical chameleon with jazz in his fingers, Brazilian rhythms in his blood and a sound palette as colourful as a street party in Rio. To complete the trio, Martijn also brought in Jeroen Reggers, a guitarist with whom he has shared a strong musical connection for years. A band with strong roots and fresh shoots.
The House of Modes is not a house with walls, but with musical rooms – each with its own atmosphere. Jazz, classical, folk, Brazilian music: it's all there, interwoven and mixed together. But don't expect a tour down the familiar path. With Martijn's idiosyncratic compositions as their compass, these three musicians venture off the beaten track.
