Sonic Hug: the new project by Louise van den Heuvel

Sonic Hug is the new project by young Dutch bass player Louise van den Heuvel, born from a carte blanche by JazzLab and W.E.R.F. Records. For this personal project, Louise assembled a quartet with some of the most prominent young musicians from the Belgian jazz scene: Hendrik Lasure (keyboards), Sam Comerford (saxophone and clarinet), and Daniel Jonkers (drums). With layered, melancholic compositions, elegant grooves, and experimental jazz influences, the quartet has created a unique sound. Louise introduces her own voice for the first time, adding an extra intimate layer to the music. Inspired by Scandinavian sounds and contemporary jazz, Sonic Hug is always in search of an imaginative groove, with influences from bands like Floating Points. The performance at the Brosella Spring Festival promises to be an intriguing musical journey and is a great example of the vibrant creativity currently thriving in the Belgian jazz scene.
