Bex (Salut les Voisins – Jazz bij de Buren)

Bex is the alt-pop band led by Leuven-based singer, songwriter and producer Rebecca Driesmans (vocals and synths). Her band also includes three Brussels-based members: Louise van den Heuvel on bass (see Sonic Hug and Dishwasher_ among others), Victor Khaddaj on drums and electronics (Underwater Fsh) and Hyungjun Lee on saxophone, EWI and bass clarinet (Kuna Maze).

Their music sounds like a mix of ethereal vocals, alt-pop textures and ear-candy electronics, somewhere between pop and jazz. Live, improvisation plays an important role. With her background in jazz and her love of electronic music, Rebecca creates an atmosphere in which her musicians and the audience can lose themselves.

In March 2024 they were 'artist of the month' at Brussels Jazz Alert. Their performances at Gent Jazz 2022 and Brussels Jazz Weekend 2024 were also very well received. In June 2024, they released their debut EP The Kitchen on the Polymoon label.

Saluts les Voisins – Jazz bij de Buren (Jazz at the Neighbours)

Jazz is above all the universal language that crosses borders and unites cultures. With the brand new Salut Les Voisins - Jazz bij de Buren, we build a bridge between the jazz scene in Flanders, Wallonia and Brussels.

During Leuven Jazz, we will introduce you to five bands from Wallonia and Brussels. Festival partner Gaume Jazz will host four Dutch-speaking bands next summer, including one selection by Leuven Jazz. This unique Flemish-Walloon-Brussels alliance will also have an international flavour: ten foreign programmers will be invited to discover the rich Belgian jazz scene.
