Jazz au féminin

Over two weekends, Saturdays and Sundays, from 2 to 6 p.m., with two other photographers, Lahouari Jilali (“Regards”) and Vincent Carton (“Mère et fille”), I will be exhibiting a series of photos of jazz women at the WET GROUND gallery, rue de la Constitution n° 13 in Schaerbeek (near Les Halles de Schaerbeek and the Sainte-Marie church).

Note of intent

Women singers, instrumentalists and composers in the jazz world, in Belgium as elsewhere, face numerous obstacles linked to patriarchal dynamics and gender inequalities.

Despite the efforts of those who willingly seek them out, and even try to give them maximum visibility, women remain under-represented.

These photographs of jazz concerts by Marc Philippe Legein and the accompanying booklet are intended to pay tribute to them, stimulate debate and showcase talented women.
