Coming from the Strasbourg scene and the Omezis collective which brings together twenty artists, musicians, DJs and videographers, the Emile Londonien trio immerses itself in the English jazz scene of the last fifteen years to offer a personal version.
Regularly playlisted on the BBC, the trio’s productions find an enthusiastic echo and praise begins to rain, starting with those of the influential dj and producer Gilles Peterson himself who sees in them heirs: «I saw these guys recently live. They are a sort of celebration of the last 10-15 years UK jazz scene (...) It’s a crossroads place.” Still unknown a few months before, the band performed at the Worldwide Festival de Sète, the Montreux Jazz Festival in the summer of 2021 and the Nancy Jazz Pulsations, confirming on stage all the good we could think of them listening. Influenced by Yussef Kamaal, The Comet Is Coming, Atjazz, Sun Ra, but also Ornette Coleman or Thelonious Monk and by the stages, Broken Beat, Jazz, House, Hip Hop, Emile Londonien perfectly embodies this «Next Gen» of French jazz alongside Léon Phal, of which he is close. After the release of a 5 tracks in September 2022 («Jazz Contenders»), and a first album very noticed in February 2023 («Legacy»), the group prepares the release of its next project for March 2024.
