Wajdi Riahi Trio

With Wajdi Riahi (pn&Compo), Basile Rahola (cb) & Pierre Hurty (dr)

The trio was formed in Brussels, in 2020. Wajdi and Basile Rahola first met in Tunisia. They have recorded two albums with the Baz Trio: "Live at Jamboree" and "L'homme Bleu", on Fresh Sound New Talent Records.
Drummer Pierry Hurty crossed paths with Wajdi, and the two began playing together on various projects, including "Moments" (Basile's latest album) and a duo project, "Riahrty". They have since become inseparable.
The strong bond between these three young musicians translates into a solid and consistent dynamic in their playing.
Following a proposal from Fresh Sounds New Talent, Wajdi decided to write a new repertoire for the trio. The pieces are both rhythmic, but also melodically and harmonically varied. Each piece tells a personal story from Wajdi's life, and this honesty is evident from the very first notes. The name of the album, Mhamdeya, refers to his neighborhood in Tunis.
