In one century, jazz has gone from being a quasi-folkloric expression to a universal musical language; for the generations to come, it will be perceived as THE musical revolution of the 20th century. Already present in conservatories and universities, jazz must now create its own structures for dissemination and conservation.
The Maison du Jazz, born in 1994 from the dream of a few collectors who have devoted their lives to jazz, has made it its priority to preserve and promote a heritage that is all the more gigantic because each work is, through improvisation, a unique work.
