Centre Culturel Les Chiroux
- Address : Place des Carmes 8, 4000 Liège, Belgique
The Centre culturel de Liège - Les Chiroux is 50 years of cultural activities in the heart of Liège and its districts. Its team of nearly thirty people develops a dynamic project, reflecting the challenges of society, within a city undergoing rapid change but also on the scale of its region, in direct cooperation with the associations and institutions of the area.
Les Chiroux is the initiator of several cultural operations and events (Babillage, l'art, la culture et les tout-petits - TempoColor - Quartiers sensibles...) and is also involved in numerous projects promoting local and global citizenship, in particular via the Ilo Citoyen unit.
Les Chiroux and its visual arts sector also offer a wide range of exhibitions, in the exhibition space of the Cultural Centre and at the Satellite Gallery in the Churchill cinema (Grignoux), as well as organising the Biennial of the Possible-BIP Image.
The Centre for Expression and Creativity Les ateliers04 is integrated into the Cultural Centre, in collaboration with the other Liège cultural centres, with which it is building up an intensified cultural action throughout the city and its districts.
Les Chiroux is also developing a project for the dissemination of the performing arts from a 188-seat hall and a series of associated halls. At the heart of this artistic project are proposals aimed at young audiences, but also listening music and numerous artist residencies.
Through all its actions, Les Chiroux tries to contribute to the development and better exercise of the population's cultural rights, in a perspective of equality and emancipation.
