Frank Deruytter

Frank Deruytter is a versatile tenor saxophone player, who is at ease as well in pop, blues and funk as in jazz, etc..
He excels in funk contexts, where his tight and soulful playing (sometimes reminiscent of Michael Brecker) works marvels.

In the Soul & Soul Band, he plays with Santo Scinta (drs), Marco Locurcio (guitar), Didier Deruytter (Rhodes, organ) and Jacques Pili (el. bass).

On the jazz scene, he played with Marc Moulin with Bert Joris, Jack Van Poll, David Linx, Toots Thielemans, Act Big Band, etc...

He also presents his own quartet, in a more acoustic bag, with Ivan Paduart (p), Philippe Aerts (b), Toni Vitacolonna (drs), or Dominique Vantomme (p), Werner Lauscher (b), Geert Roelofs (drs) etc...

He has a huge discography as a studio player for pop singers and various bands.

In 2012, he headed a quartet with Eric Legnini (p), Philippe Aerts (bass) and US drummer Peter Erskine.

He also founded the O.T.O. Machine, an energetic funk/jazz big band.
