Dominique Vantomme

Born 1972, Dominique VANTOMME first studied classical piano, then switched to jazz at the age of 20. He took lessons from pianists Mike DEL FERRO and Marc MATTHYS at the Music Conservatory in Ghent and attended workshops given by Mark LEVINE and Rob MADNA. In 96, he attended another workshop with Andy LAVERNE and David BAKER at the University of Louisville, Kentucky (USA). In 98, he studies in New York with US pianist Kenny WERNER.

Dominique VANTOMME was the regular pianist of the Big Band of Geraardsbergen, led by Marc GODFROID. With the Concord Jazz Ensemble of Kortrijk (B) led by Joost DE RYCKERE, he had the opportunity to appear at the Montreux Jazz Festival (Switzerland), at "Jazz in't Park" in Ghent, and also to accompany Toots THIELEMANS, etc...
He is the pianist of the Banana Peel Blues Band and works a.o. with singer Marjolein CNEUT.

Dominique VANTOMME leads his own quartet and trio, and works as a freelance pianist and keyboard player for various bands, including in the recording studios.

In 99, he receives a Prize at the Europ' Jazz Contest in Hoeilaart (B).

Dominique VANTOMME takes his inspiration from the blues and from modern jazz pianists such as Kenny BARRON, Kevin HAYS, Kenny WERNER and Kenny KIRKLAND.

He teaches jazz piano at the Conservatorium of Kortrijk.
